Everywhere I look I'm reminded to keep going, keep moving, keep performing, keep doing, keep pushing
but my body has been asking for something completely different this winter.
Maybe it's because I'm originally from the northern hemisphere, where winter hibernation feels a little more accepted.
Maybe it's just me, or my own inner season.
Either way, this winter has asked me to slow down, and this year I decided not to fight it.
The past couple of months have looked a little different.
Less movement, endless cups of tea, lots of hot water bottles, warm comfort foods, more time indoors, less socialising and less time on here!
Don't get me wrong movement is important but it doesn't always have to be intense.
Sometimes it's stretching, sometimes it's a gentle walk, sometimes it's simply moving from the office or house to the sunshine.
Connection matters too but maybe this season looks less like filling your calendar
and more like sharing a tea with a friend, joining a book club or attending cosy bone broth workshop.
Connection can be gentle too.
So if, like me, you're feeling a little like a hedgehog this winter,
enjoy your cosy little nest while it lasts.
Trust that spring will come again
and I'll see you there (when I return from hibernation).
